Events
These are the different events we're going to be running at our tournaments
Sword & Companion
This is your chance to use a different companion with your side sword. You could pair it up and fight dual swords, or perhaps a dagger as the companion. Shields are still an option, with a choice of rotella, targa or buckler or perhaps you would rather choose a cloak as the companion weapon.
Weapons permitted are: side sword, messer or arming sword.
Spear
As the name suggests this one is all about spear fighting
Weapons: For both safety and reasons of equality, spears will be provided, so there is no need to bring your own
Longsword v Sword & Shield
Ever wondered what’s the best, having a shield or a really long sword? Now is the chance to try.
How does it work?
Enter either on team longsword or team sword & shield. Equal numbers of each will be in each pool. Fights score as normal, but you only fight the opposite weapons e.g. there is no longsword v longsword in the pools. Longsword fighters and sword and shield fighters are ranked separately. The top 8 of each make it through to the knock outs, as a result chance dictates the quarter final pairings.
Weapons permitted: side sword, messer or arming swords can be used but you must either have gloves which are appropriate for longsword hits or have built in hand protection/ metal work to the sword hilt, e.g. basket hilt etc.
Team event - 2 people v 2
This is a team event. You must either enter as a pair or enter on a wait list if you need a buddy to fight with
How does it work? All four fighters will be on the piste at the same time. If you are hit you are out, points are awarded based on the number of people left. First to 10 wins (or highest after max time)
Weapons permitted: This is a mixed steel weapon competition, open to a variety of swords (and companions). In addition, spears are allowed but only a maximum of one per team.
Rapier & Companion
This is your chance to use a different companion with your rapier. You could pair it up and fight dual swords, or a cloak. Shields are an option, with a choice of rotella, targa or buckler.
Weapons permitted: Rapier. Daggers are NOT permitted as rapier and dagger is not an under represented weapon set in tournaments.
Single Sidesword
Not seen much in the tournaments these days, so bringing it back.
Weapons permitted: side sword.
Two swords
Pure 2 swords competition.
Weapons permitted: Swords do not need to match but must be in the permitted list
